OCC to host 9th small business conference
OCC plans to put on its ninth annual Orange County Small Business Conference on Saturday, with workshops in marketing, starting a business and keeping track of finances.
The program, sponsored by OCC’s Business and Computing Division and the OCC Foundation, is scheduled to run from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the campus student center. Admission is $25, with a free continental breakfast for attendees who sign up in advance.
The event features three main workshop tracks — marketing, starting a business and finance — with three 50-minute sessions in each one. The winner of the Small Business of the Year Award will also be announced at the end of the program.

Fletcher Jones announces $3.2 million in sales tax
Fletcher Jones Motorcars contributed more than $3.2 million in sales tax revenue to Newport Beach’s general fund last year, the company announced.
The Mercedes-Benz dealership, 3300 Jamboree Road, has provided the city with more than $3 million each of the last three years. Fletcher Jones, which opened in 1991, features an 180,000-square-foot showroom with a gourmet coffee bar, a TV lounge and even a putting green.
“As the nation’s No. 1. Mercedes-Benz dealership, Fletcher Jones Motorcars consistently generates record-setting sales figures that, in turn, provide the city with millions of dollars to enhance the quality of life in our community,†General Manager Garth Blumenthal said in a release.
