With more than 500 guests in attendance, the second annual Pink Tie Ball, hosted by the Orange County Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure, surpassed its fundraising goal by more than $100,000.
The event, held Saturday at Soka University in Alsio Viejo, raised $508,212 from sponsorship contributions, ticket sales, live and silent auctions, and the purchase of personalized “Promise Lanterns” that honored, celebrated or memorialized individuals who have faced breast cancer.
The guest list included advocates, breast cancer survivors, and the Pink Tie Guys, a group of businessmen and community leaders helping to bring breast cancer awareness to the forefront of the business community.
Lisa Wolter, executive director of the Komen Orange County Affiliate, expressed gratitude for the support and contributions the organization receives from the community.
“This premier gala is a highly visible, tremendously important event for our affiliate. It is one more avenue for the community to support our goal of ending breast cancer forever,” Wolter said in a news release.
