Local track and field teams head for Trabuco Hills

Corona del Mar High senior Shelby Buckley will be one to watch today at the Trabuco Hills Track and Field Invitational.

Buckley, bound for UCLA, will be competing in the 1,600 meters at 10:25 a.m. Last year, she finished second in the event. She obviously wants to win, but whatever happens she’s using it as preparation for the Arcadia Invitational Saturday.

Buckley is also competing in the 1,600 relay.

Athletes from the Newport-Mesa area schools will join the scores of athletes today. The meet starts at 8 a.m.
