Driver accosts two in early-morning robbery

Costa Mesa police are seeking two men who pulled their car to the side of the road and demanded money from a pair of pedestrians early Saturday morning.

About 3:30 a.m., two men were walking on the sidewalk near Harbor Boulevard and South Coast Drive when a dark sedan pulled up alongside them, Lt. Bob Ciszek said. A man then stepped out of the car and demanded money from the pedestrians, who complied with cash from their pockets.

Ciszek said the man who stepped out of the car did not show a weapon, but the pedestrians gave him money because they feared for their safety. The robber then fled in the car along with the driver.

Ciszek described the robber as in his 20s, 5-feet-5 and 120 pounds. He did not have a description of the driver.
