Newport’s contestants

Hoping to walk away with the crown, 29 contestants will compete for the title of Miss Newport Beach and Miss Newport Beach Teen as the city’s first pageant takes place at 7 tonight at the Balboa Bay Club and Resort, 1221 W. Coast Highway.

Winners will be determined by a celebrity panel of judges including Chelsea Handler, comedian and host of “Chelsea Lately” and actress Mackenzie Rosman of “7th Heaven,” following a swimsuit and evening gown presentation, and a question-and-answer round.
