School supplies sought for Easter baskets
Laguna Presbyterian Church is raising funds to fill Easter baskets for Marines’ children. This year, San Clemente Military Family Outreach has requested that the church stock baskets with much needed school supplies. The base school is located in Fallbrook School District. Teachers are either purchasing school supplies out of their own money, or their students are doing without.
2008 marks the fifth year that Laguna Presbyterian’s Outreach Committee has raised funds and filled Easter Baskets for Pendleton children. Many have a parent who has served multiple tours, even as many as five times in Iraq or Afghanistan.
Donations go toward white board and watercolor markers, glue sticks, office store gift cards and other stationery items needed in classrooms.
Upper-grade teachers have requested donations for tech and science supplies, including digital cameras, camera repairs, computer microphones, flash drives, microscopes and lab equipment.
To donate, bring or mail a tax deductible check written to “Laguna Presbyterian Church,” 415 Forest Ave., or bring it to the church coffee/fellowship time after the 8:30 a.m. service Feb. 24 or March 2. Indicate that it is for Marines’ Easter Baskets. A note to the students or teacher is suggested.

Anneliese’s dining facility suspended
The Laguna Canyon campus of Anneliese’s Schools, 20062 Laguna Canyon Road, was cited following a county health department inspection last week for not having enough hot water available in two of its hand-washing sinks and its kitchen sink.
Kitchen operations were suspended for one day on Feb. 13 following the inspection.
School representative Liz Hare said the sinks’ water heater runs out of hot water by about noon, so the school plans to get a larger heater.
Hare said the school waiting to hear from the county as to what size water heater it needs to purchase, but does not know when the suspension will be lifted.
“We have a plumber ready to go,” she said.
The school has continued to feed its students their usual meals while it waits to hear back from the county, but dishes must be washed by hand.
