Gladstone to speak at business club
Joan Gladstone of Gladstone International, a crisis communications firm, will speak Thursday at the Laguna Beach Business Club. A longtime Laguna Beach resident, Gladstone has managed media coverage of a number of high profile matters, including the County of Orange’s 1994 bankruptcy, the largest municipal bankruptcy in U.S. history.
Gladstone also works with companies, nonprofits and public agencies on media-related issues ranging from labor strikes and political protests to environmental problems, regulatory investigations, executive transitions and property disputes.
The public is invited to attend. The presentation begins at 7:30 a.m. at Hotel Laguna, Catalina Room. The cost of $20 per person includes a buffet breakfast. RSVP to Josh Wolff at (949) 720-4140 or [email protected].

Jorgensen re-certified as HIV Specialist
The American Academy of HIV Medicine has awarded Dr. Korey Jorgensen of the Laguna Beach Community Clinic the academy’s re-certification as a specialist in HIV medicine.
The clinic provides services to the uninsured through the funding of the Ryan White Foundation.
“Generous support from the community has allowed us to continue this important work, not only in the field of HIV medicine, but general and specialty health care for men, women and kids who aren’t covered by health insurance,” said Dr. Tom Bent, clinic medical director.
Jorgensen, a Laguna Beach resident, is also a member of the HIV Advisory Committee for the city of Laguna Beach.
“Because of better medicines, people are living with AIDS, and people forget to follow safer sex guidelines,” Jorgensen said. “That’s one of the reasons our anonymous, no-appointment-needed HIV testing program is so important. I’m proud to be an HIV specialist; it allows me to help people with HIV infection live a long and healthy life.”
The clinic is at 362 Third St. and can be reached at (949) 494-0761.
