Newport Harbor 17, Edison 7
NEWPORT BEACH — The Sailors clinched their second straight Sunset League title outright with the regular season-ending win Wednesday at Newport Harbor High.
Erin Reid scored a team-high four goals for Newport Harbor (24-3, 5-0 in league), and fellow seniors Kimmy Morrison and Jessica Robinson scored three each. Morrison also had four steals for the Tars, who were up, 10-2, at halftime.
Newport Harbor is the top-ranked team in the CIF Southern Section Division I coaches’ poll after its win at the Irvine Southern California Championships on Saturday. The Sailors will now wait to see who their first-round CIF opponent is when the brackets are released Sunday at 11 a.m. First-round games are scheduled for Feb. 14.

CORONA DEL MAR — Senior Sarah Wesley scored the goal for the Lightning in their season-ending Orange Coast League game Wednesday at Corona del Mar High.
Junior Jordan Smith-Newman had six saves for Sage Hill (8-5, 1-2), which finished in third place in the four-team league.
Laguna Beach (19-7, 3-0), ranked No. 4 in the CIF Southern Section Division II coaches’ poll, won the league for the second straight year.
