Man, 70, fatally struck by 83-year-old driver
A 70-year-old Huntington Beach man was killed by a car this week as he crossed Bolsa Chica Street, police said.
Resident John Carpenter was crossing the street east at Edinger Avenue at about 5:37 p.m. Tuesday, when a maroon Chevy Impala hit him, according to police. Paramedics treated him and rushed him to Long Beach Memorial Hospital, but he died there from his injuries, authorities said.
The Impala’s driver, Shirley Constants, 83, Huntington Beach, took suffered no injuries and was not taken to the hospital. Alcohol does not appear to be a factor, and no charges have been filed so far, according to police.
