Deadline extended for youth government program

High school sophomores, juniors and seniors who live in Costa Mesa may apply for the city’s youth in government program through Oct. 1. The original deadline was Sept. 21, but officials opted to extend it to let more people apply.

In the seven-month program, students will meet the first Monday of the month for discussions and visits to places such as the city’s theater arts district, the fire department’s training center and the county’s West Court House. Applications are available on the city’s website at www.ci.costa-mesa.ca.us or at Costa Mesa City Hall, 77 Fair Drive. For information on the youth in government program call (714) 754-5322.
