Conference centers on Alzheimer’s disease

Today and Friday scientists from around the nation present the latest information about Alzheimer’s disease and other mental disorders at the 2007 Alzheimer’s Disease Research and Education Conference in the Hilton Irvine/Orange County Airport hotel, 18800 MacArthur Blvd.

This year’s conference commemorates the 100-year anniversary of the discovery of Alzheimer’s disease and scientists will look back at historical developments and recent milestones that bring researchers closer to a cure.

Today’s conference is from 7:30 a.m. to 5:15 p.m.; Friday’s conference is from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Highlights for today include presentations about early Alzheimer’s detection and screening and memory differences between the sexes.

Friday, three people with early dementia will talk about their diagnosis and how it has affected their lives, among other presentations.
