High school students urged to apply for youth program

High school sophomores, juniors and seniors who live in Costa Mesa are invited to apply for the city’s youth in government program for the 2007-08 school year.

The program will include tours and activities in the city’s theater arts district, Harbor Justice Center, Orange County Water District and fire training facility, and a day to shadow city officials and employees at city hall. A new feature will have students document their participation in the program and give a multimedia presentation to the City Council.

Applications for the program can be found on the city’s website, www.ci.costa-mesa.ca.us, and completed forms can be turned in to the recreation office at City Hall, 77 Fair Drive, or mailed to Costa Mesa Recreation, P.O. Box 1200, Costa Mesa, CA 92628. The deadline is Sept. 21, and events begin Oct. 1.
