Senators hold off late charge by Sabers

The Senators saw a seemingly safe three-goal lead all but disappear during their Wednesday Wales Division matchup against the Sabers but held on for a 6-5 victory at Coast 2 Coast Inline Hockey Center in Huntington Beach.
The Senators took a 6-3 lead into the final period, using four goals by Zac Witt and one apiece by Ryan Dixon and Samantha Woodside, to build that three-goal lead.
Goals by Matthew Bozanich and Logan Favilla, each assisted by Lucas Main, brought the Sabers to within 6-5 with 5:36 to play but they could get no closer.
Bozanich and Matthew Bennett each scored twice to pace the Sabers. Matt Schnautz and Jake Richard each had an assist.
Todd Smith recorded 21 saves.
Dixon added two assists and Witt, Ashley Woody and Nick Somes each had an assist, to complement the Senators’ offense.
Eric Grant had 18 saves.
In other Wales Division action:
Ice Dogs 6, Red Wings 4
The Ice Dogs never trailed en route to defeating the Red Wings.
The Ice Dogs were led offensively by Matthew Moore who contributed three goals and an assist.
Drew Sorbom and Alex Kowalski each scored once with an assist and Kandice Ehret scored once.
Ian Marzolf had 18 saves.
Patrick Lipscomb, Alex McCabe, Chase Lipscomb and Brandon White scored for the Red Wings.
Lipscomb also had an assist and Jessica Quinones finished with 19 saves.
In Patrick Division action:
C2C Kings 5, Warriors 1
The C2C Kings spotted the Warriors a one-goal lead then netted the final five goals to pull away.
Nick Irwin scored off a feed from Jason Wong in the first period to give the Warriors their 1-0 lead. Jason Callanan scored twice before the period was over to put the Kings in front to stay.
Craig Wellander, Michael Manoukian and Trevor Scott also scored for the Kings. Callanan, Manoukian, Wellander and Max Olin all had assists and Joshua Fowler finished with 17 saves.
Tyler Allen had 24 saves for the Warriors.
Danglers 4, OC Tribe 2
Cody Merrick’s goal off an assist from Blake Miller early in the third period gave the Danglers a two-goal lead and breathing room as they defeated the Tribe.
Merrick scored three of the Danglers’ four goals, the other being posted by Miller. Merrick also had an assist.
Mark Miller recorded 20 saves.
Elijah McHenry and Kevin Reyes scored for the Tribe, Dylan Miller had an assist and Jonathan Cao registered 18 saves.
