Dynamite run for north H.B.

The North Huntington Beach Girls’ Softball Dynamites, an 8-and-Under All-Star team, concluded postseason play with a pair of impressive tournament runs.

The first tournament the Dynamites competed in since winning the Central District tournament title last month was the 20th annual Milkcan Classic, a 12-team tournament that featured several district champions and was played in Chino Hills.

The Dynamites posted a 5-1 record to win the tournament. They defeated La Habra (5-0), Santa Monica (13-7), Cypress (6-1) and Chino Hills (12-4 and 8-0), and their loss was to Charter Oak (8-2).

After winning that tournament, the Dynamites, who had now won three consecutive tournament titles, competed at the state championships in Lancaster.

In the 8-and-Under division, there was no declared tournament champion among the competing teams, each of whom entered the tournament as a district champion.

The Dynamites played four games in Lancaster, beating Santee (12-4), no-hit Riverside in a 10-0 triumph, rallied in the final inning to stun Hart (4-2) and suffered their lone loss to Charter Oak (3-2).

Their 3-1 record was the best among the competing teams.

During the All-Star season, the HB Dynamites won the Simi Valley, Central District and Milkcan tournaments, reached the title game at both the West Garden Grove Memorial Day and Los Alamitos tournaments, reached the semifinals of the Placentia/Yorba Linda Tournament and ended it with a 3-1 showing at the state tournament.

Overall, they went 27-6 in the postseason.

The North Huntington Beach 8U Dynamite All-Stars are Kaitlin Barry, Jenny Herron, Camryn Hohneker, Hannah Howell, Kristina Inouye, Alexa Jorgenson, Kelly Kazempoor, Anna Kufta, Bailey Rall, Ally Sterzer, Darcy Weiser and Hannah Wessel.
