SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — The Newport Beach Breakers dropped their fourth straight World Team Tennis match Thursday, falling to the host Springfield Lasers, 22-13, at the Cooper Tennis Complex.

Newport Beach (1-4) opened the match by winning sets in men’s singles and men’s doubles as Ramon Delgado set the pace for the visitors.

Delgado defeated Martin Verkerk, 5-3, in men’s singles. Delgado then paired with Rick Leach to top Verkerk and Glenn Weiner, 5-4, to give the Breakers a 10-7 lead.

The same two teams meet again today at 5:05 at the same venue.
