SHORT TAKES:Robbers hold up doughnut shop, then man in lot

After holding up a doughnut shop early this morning, the four robbers mugged a man in a parking lot before making their getaway, authorities said.

The four robbers held up DK’s Donuts, 2963 Fairview Road, about 2:40 a.m., police said.

One of the men had a handgun, and the robbers demanded that an employee empty the register, Costa Mesa Lt. Loren Wyrick said. He did not know how much money the robbers stole.

After leaving the store, the robbers mugged a man walking by, Wyrick said. Then they got in a dark-colored vehicle and drove away. No one was hurt in the stick-ups.
