After an extensive two-month renovation, the Palm Terrace Restaurant at The Island Hotel Newport Beach will reopen Saturday with new menus and revamped interiors.
The restaurant, which used to be called the Pavilion, has a new tropical motif, but will still be under the direction of Executive Chef Bill Bracken.
The chef’s new “small bites” will let restaurant-goers create their own tasting menus.
New signature dishes include truffle-scented macaroni and cheese, potato-crusted Chilean sea bass and summer fish stew.
Wines will be plentiful at the restaurant, with floor-to-ceiling wine cabinets and more than 1,000 wine bottles. The bar menu will also include a “martini of the day,” mojitos, mai tais and margaritas.
The restaurant is open for breakfast from 6:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. Monday through Friday; 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday; and an extended breakfast will be served from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sundays.
Lunch is served from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and dinner from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. The Palm Terrace Lounge, which is now featuring entertainer Jimmy Hopper, will serve drinks and small bites from 11 a.m. to midnight.
