Costa Mesa Police Officer Charles Oliver was honored as Employee of the Month during Tuesday night’s City Council meeting after a series of outstanding arrests.
Oliver works in the department’s Field Operations Unit. He has assisted in a number of felony arrests during the night watch over the last month.
He and his partners apprehended a burglary at a laundry facility, then foiled an attempted residential burglary and arrested a wanted parolee, all within a single night-watch shift.
“Oliver has demonstrated what a well-trained and determined officer can do,” Mayor Allan Mansoor said during the meeting.
The entire council joined Mansoor at the podium to present Oliver with the award while Oliver’s children cheered for their “daddy.”
“Each of these investigations involved career criminals committing serious felony offenses in our community,” Mansoor said. “Through his excellent police work, he has protected the public safety and welfare and set a precedent for excellence.”
