Oilers seek freshman football head coach

Huntington Beach High School is looking to hire a head coach for its freshman football team, Oilers varsity head coach Eric Lo announced Monday.

Pop Warner signups this Saturday

Huntington Beach Pop Warner Football will hold its next registration session for its 2007 season on Saturday.

Registration will be taken from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Edison High football field.

The signup is open to all players and cheerleader candidates.

No tryouts are involved and everyone plays.

The league is open to players ages 5 to 15 (age as of July 31, 2007). Divisions include Cub, Jr. Mighty Mite, Mighty Mite, Jr. Pee Wee, Pee Wee, Jr. Midget and Midget.

All participants (except those in the Cub Division) must maintain a minimum 2.0 GPA to play.

In 2006, the Jr. Pee Wee team won Orange Bowl and Western Conference Regional championships, and the Jr. Pee Wee cheer team also won a Regional championship.

The next scheduled registration date is May 20 (noon to 4 p.m.).

Jr. All-American Football May 19

Huntington Beach Jr. All-American Football will hold its next registration session for its football and cheer teams on Saturday, May 19.

Signups, open to boys and girls ages 5 to 14, will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Huntington Beach High.

The chapter will hold a final registration date on Saturday, June 9.
