BREAKING NEWS
The Classic Hand Car Wash in Costa Mesa remained closed Thursday, a day after its manager died after being run over by an SUV allegedly driven by a co-worker.
Eduardo Rodriguez, 35, of Costa Mesa was pronounced dead at the scene of the 4:10 p.m. Wednesday crash, according to police.
His co-worker, Elias Escalante-Izara, 25, was arrested on suspicion of driving without a license and booked at Costa Mesa Jail, where he was placed on an immigration hold, police said.
The accident happened at a car detailing area in the 100 block of Wells Place, just a block from the East 17th Street carwash where the men worked.
The Orange County Coroner’s office is scheduled to complete an autopsy today to determine the exact cause of death.
