Cal Baptist 3, Vanguard 0Vanguard 2, Cal Baptist 1COSTA MESA — The Lions, ranked No. 8 in the NAIA, gave No. 1-ranked Cal Baptist just its third loss of the season in the second game of a Golden State Athletic Conference doubleheader Tuesday at Vanguard.

Vanguard (39-10, 17-5 in conference) scored both its runs in the third, when April Glenn had an RBI single to score Noelle Navarette and Rachel Bomgren also scored on an error.
Kelsey Boyer (10-1) pitched six innings of one-run ball to get the win, and Jennifer Olvera recorded her first save.
The Lions lost the first game in eight innings. Jen Olverahad shut out CBU through seven innings. Jenna Bergh was two for three.
MEN’S TENNIS
Orange Coast 5, Grossmont 4EL CAJON — The Pirates were tied after the singles sets, but won two of three doubles sets to clinch a road victory in the first round of the Southern California regional playoffs Tuesday.
Freshmen Patrick Lam and Charlie Nguyen won a three-set doubles match for No. 8-seeded OCC (15-4), and teammates Kevin Kordestani and Andy Ong also won to clinch the match for the Pirates.
OCC is at the Ojai Tournament starting Thursday, and will play in a Southern California regional semifinal against either No. 2-seeded Ventura or No. 7 Cerritos next Tuesday at 2 p.m.
WOMEN’S TENNIS
Orange Coast 5, Grossmont College 0COSTA MESA — Jaleh Mazaheri won both of her No. 1 singles sets to help the Pirates win the first round of the Southern California Regional playoffs match Tuesday.
