Arcadia InvitationalARCADIA — Corona del Mar High seniors Tiffany Liu and Nicole Slykhous both won events Friday in the “Rising Stars” division at Arcadia High.
Liu won the long jump in a personal-best mark of 17 feet, 11 1/4 inches. Slykhous, the 14th seed in the girls’ 3,200 meters, won the event in 11 minutes, 13.66 seconds, which CdM Coach Bill Sumner said is a personal-best by about nine seconds.
SOFTBALL
Estancia 10,COSTA MESA — Estancia senior pitcher Josie Flores allowed just one hit, helping her team win a mercy-rule shortened Orange Coast League opener Friday at Estancia.

Taylor West clubbed two solo home runs for Estancia (10-4). Amy Hartwell was two for four with a double and an RBI, and Lina You went two for three with an RBI.

Windward 16,NEWPORT COAST — J.J. Beruldsen went two for two with two RBIs Friday, but the Lightning dropped the mercy-rule shortened game and they’re now 0-2 in the Sage Hill Classic.

Sean Vogel had two hits for Sage Hill (4-7), which plays today at noon against Capistrano Valley Christian, which is 1-1 in the three-day, four-team tournament.
Windward and Saddleback Valley Christian both are 2-0 and play at 3 p.m.
