Costa Mesa 14, Calvary Chapel 7COSTA MESA — Matt Pisarski, Andrew Millian and Cody Waldron had three hits each to contribute to the Mustangs’ 19-hit attack that led to the Orange Coast League win over the Eagles, ranked No. 4 in CIF Southern Section Division III, at Orange Coast College Friday.
Millian had two RBIs, while Pisarski had one. Miguel Molina contributed two hits and three RBIs. Costa Mesa Coach Jim Kiefer said it was the biggest of the season for his Mustangs (7-3, 2-0 in league).
“We know this is the team to beat in this league,” Kiefer said. “To get this one is a big step for us.”
Calvary Chapel dropped to 8-2, 1-1. Costa Mesa plays at Estancia Tuesday at 3:15 p.m.

Edison 6, Newport Harbor 1HUNTINGTON BEACH — The Sailors scored in the top of the first, but couldn’t get going after that in a Sunset League loss Friday at Edison High.
Jarrett Daniel scored the run for Newport Harbor (2-7, 0-3 in league) and Eric Bonn had a double. First-place Edison (6-4, 3-0) hit three home runs.
Newport Harbor plays host to Marina on Wednesday.

Corona del Mar def. EdisonCORONA DEL MAR — Jeff Carlson, Gus Ellis and Brad McCoy had 11 kills each to lead the Sea Kings to a 23-25, 25-16, 25-17, 25-10 nonleague victory Friday.
Blaine Nielsen added seven kills and nine digs, while Dylan Davis had five kills and four blocks for CdM (16-1), ranked No. 1 in CIF Division II.
Mira Costa def. Newport HarborMANHATTAN BEACH — Weston Dunlap had a team-high nine kills against Mira Costa, the No. 1-ranked team in CIF Division I, that won 25-18, 25-17, 25-19 in a nonleague match Friday.
Tucker Peluses had five kills, while Max Vohs added four for the Sailors (9-7). Newport Harbor Coach Dan Glenn said Kyle Caldwell will be out for another three weeks with a stress fracture in his foot. Mark Liebermann also missed Friday with a pulled abdominal muscle suffered in Thursday’s practice.
Brethren Christian def.HUNTINGTON BEACH — Bayle Smith recorded 17 kills for the Lightning, but Brethren Christian, ranked No. 2 in CIF Division V, won the Academy League opener, 20-25, 25-20, 25-22, 25-13, Friday.
Sage Hill School
Harlan Webster added six kills and three blocks for Sage Hill (5-5), ranked No. 5 in CIF Division V.
BOYS’ TENNIS
St. Margaret’s 12, Sage Hill 6SAN JUAN CAPISTRANO — The Lightning won just one singles set in a battle for first place in the Academy League on Friday at St. Margaret’s.
The doubles teams of Grant Gerdau and Robert Schaus, and Kevin Wang and Carl Fletcher, each won twice for Sage Hill (5-8, 5-1 in league), ranked No. 6 in CIF Division IV.
St. Margaret’s (9-4, 6-0) is ranked No. 4 in Division IV.
Sage Hill plays at Woodbridge in a nonleague match on Monday.

Estancia 79, Savannah 73Jeff Crosson won the 200-yard individual medley, 100 backstroke and helped the Eagles win the 200 medley relay and 400 free relay in a nonleague meet Friday.
Kyle Lux won the 100 breaststroke with a personal-best and come-from-behind win time of 1 minute, 22.1 seconds for Estancia (3-3), which opens Orange Coast League play Tuesday at Laguna Beach at 3 p.m.
