Vanguard 9, Hope International 1Vanguard 7, Hope International 0COSTA MESA — With dominant pitching and hitting, the Lions stayed perfect in the Golden State Athletic Conference.
Jen Olvera (9-1) struck out 13 batters and scattered two hits in the six-inning win in the first game. Sara Howe, April Glenn and Jen Rynda had two hits each in the Lions’ 11-hit attack.
In the second game, Kelsey Boyer (8-0) had a three-hit shutout with four strikeouts. Howe, Rachel Bomgren and Melissa Forrester had two hits each for Vanguard (28-5, 8-0 in conference).
Howe also had three RBIs total in the two games. Rynda and Katie Daniels had two RBIs each in the first game.
Hope International dropped to 4-20, 0-10.
The Lions play host to Point Loma Nazarene March 27 at 2 p.m.
