ALL-LEAGUE HONORS

MCGEE LEADS SAGE

Sage Hill School guard Jamie McGee led the Academy League in scoring for the second straight year and once again was named to the first-team All-Academy League in boys’ basketball by league coaches.

During his junior year, McGee averaged 18.4 points to go with 5.1 rebounds, 2.4 steals and 2.3 steals per game and led the Lightning (14-13, 6-4 for third place in league) to their first CIF Southern Section home playoff game in school history.

The Lightning won their Division IV-AA first-round game against Redlands Adventist Academy, 78-46, before losing on the road to Ontario Christian, 55-38, in the second round.

McGee, who shot 57% from the field, is a three-time all-league selection. The first one came as a freshman, when he made the second team.

Two other Lightning juniors were selected to the second team, starting with forward Connor Rose and guard Nick Witte. Sophomore Troy Astorino was an honorable mention.

Rose was second in scoring (9.5) and rebounding (4.3), and Witte averaged 8.9 points and 3.5 assists per game. Astorino put up five points and grabbed 2.8 rebounds per game.

SAILORS EARN HONORS

Five Newport Harbor High boys’ soccer players garnered postseason awards.

Seniors forward Ulises Vega and defender Danny Gonzalez were named first-team All-Sunset League.

Newport Harbor finished the season 10-9-4 and advanced to the CIF Southern Section Division I playoffs.

Junior midfielder Garret Heiser, a three-year varsity starter, senior forward Brian Siemonsma and senior Nathan Petter earned second-team all-league honors for the Sailors.
