Estancia 13, Los Amigos 3COSTA MESA — Blake Pinto went four for five with one RBI to lead the Eagles’ 19-hit attack in their nonleague win Thursday.
Ryan Redding went two for three with a triple and one RBI. Eddie Tomasek was two for four with two RBIs and Trevor McDonald went two for three. Tim Morley (two RBIs) and Riley Hart (one RBI) both went two for two. Taylor McClanahan went two for four with one RBI. Pitcher Gavin Montague picked up his first win.
Los Amigos dropped to 1-5.
Estancia, which improved to 2-4, plays Saturday in a doubleheader with Rancho Alamitos at TeWinkle Park at 4:30 p.m.

John Rybarczyk went two for two with one run in the first game for Costa Mesa (5-2), which plays Corona del Mar Friday at 7 p.m. at TeWinkle Park.

Costa Mesa 72,Costa Mesa 107,COSTA MESA — The Mustangs swept their first varsity dual meet of the season, a nonleague meet Thursday at Costa Mesa High.

For the boys, senior Mitch Friedmann won the 800 meters, the 1,600 meters and the 3,200 meters, helping Costa Mesa come out on top. Sophomore Antwon Byrd won the 100 meters in a personal-best time of 11.04 seconds, and was also on the winning 400 and 1,600-meter relays.
Senior Asa Hawks won the 200-meter race, and sophomore Thomas Guzowski took the discus throw.
For the dominant Mustang girls, senior Emily Cotton won the 1,600 meters, the 300 hurdles and anchored the winning Costa Mesa 1,600-meter relay. Senior Danielle Morton won the long jump and triple jump, while sophomore Arlene Sanchez took the 800 and 3,200 meters.
Sophomore Teagan LaBare won the 100 meters and anchored the winning 400 relay for Costa Mesa. Both relay teams feature all freshmen and sophomores.
“It’s a young team and they’re training hard,” Coach Diane Bjelland said. “To do this well this early in the year is great.”
Costa Mesa is at the Surf City Invitational at Huntington Beach High on March 24.

Corona del Mar 14, Sage Hill 4NEWPORT BEACH — The Sea Kings, ranked No. 5 in CIF Southern Section Division I, won eight of nine doubles sets at Balboa Bay Club Racquet Club on Wednesday in a nonleague victory over Sage Hill.
The teams of Dustin Hladek and Josh Kim, as well as Brent Pham and Bryan Buchert, swept for CdM (7-0). Chris Damion, Parker Rhodes and Ryan Peyton all won two of three singles matches.
For Sage Hill (2-7), ranked No. 9 in Division IV, senior Martin Park won two tiebreakers for set wins. CdM plays at Newport Harbor today at 3 p.m.

Estancia 13, Oxford Academy 5CYPRESS — Junior Bradley Fisher, sophomore Ely Zaidler and sophomore Danny O’Neil swept in singles to help lead the Eagles to the nonleague win Thursday.
Fisher dropped just two games, while Zaidler lost only three. Junior Chris Koreerat and sophomore Rony Argueta swept in doubles for Estancia (4-3). Oxford Academy fell to 2-3.
The Eagles play host to Orange Lutheran Monday at 3:15 p.m.

The Sailors will compete in the Mesa Verde Tournament on Monday at 12 p.m. at Mesa Verde Country Club.
