What do Audrey Hepburn, Pablo Picasso, the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. and Princess Diana have in common? They’re all among the heroes spotlighted in Corona del Mar High School’s annual dance production, “Footsteps,” which opens tonight at University High School in Irvine. Students and teachers selected nine historical figures who influenced them and created costumes and choreography to depict each one. The two-hour show begins with the tributes and ends with a variety of dance styles — including a salsa dance featuring a group of Corona del Mar athletes.
The 19-member cast gathered at University High for an afternoon rehearsal on Tuesday. Dance instructor Cami Marseilles said that during the performances, Corona del Mar art students would set up paintings and sculptures around the theater, while videos would show footage of the figures portrayed in the show.
