Two Laguna Beach High winter sports teams, boys’ basketball and girls’ water polo, are ranked in their respective CIF-Southern Section polls.
The weekly rankings were released Tuesday by the Southern Section office in Los Alamitos.
The boys’ basketball team achieved one of its highest rankings in school history by occupying the No. 2 spot in the Division III-A poll. Only Serrano is ranked above the Breakers.
Laguna is one of three Orange Coast League teams to grace the poll, joining Calvary Chapel of Santa Ana (No. 13) and Costa Mesa (No. 14).
The girls’ water polo team, ranked No. 1 last week, slipped to No. 3 in the Division II poll after losing two of four matches last weekend at the Tournament of Champions in Santa Barbara.

Division III-A: 1. Serrano; 2. Laguna Beach; 3. Renaissance Academy; 4. Cathedral City; 5. Corona del Mar; 6. Santa Fe; 7. Nogales; 8. West Valley; 9. South Hills; 10. West Covina; 11. Paloma Valley; 12. Perris; 13. Calvary Chapel/Santa Ana; 14. Costa Mesa; 15. La Serna; 16. Hesperia.
Girls’ Water Polo
Division II: 1. Santa Barbara; 2. Agoura; 3. Laguna Beach; 4. Villa Park; 5. Mira Costa; 6. Palos Verdes; 7. Dos Pueblos; 8. Mission Viejo; 9. Dana Hills; 10. Brea Olinda.
