COSTA MESA — The Pirates scored the game’s first nine points and led, 20-2, with 14:46 left in the first half en route to the easy triumph Saturday.

Freshman Courtney Ford led five Pirates in double figures with 19 points, while Robin Smith added 17 and Devin Hundley and Brittany Taylor chipped in 11 apiece.

Rachael Maulit had six assists and six steals, while Ford added five assists and six steals for the winners (4-2).

LONG BEACH — Lauren Kellerman recorded a match-high 26 kills and 10 digs to lead the Anteaters to a 26-30, 31-20, 30-24, 30-22 nonconference victory at the Pyramid in Long Beach.

Trisha White led UCI (13-16) with six blocks in the Anteaters’ season finale. Kristin Kelley added 10 kills and three aces. Devon Sutherland had 24 digs and Taryn Robertson amassed 51 assists.

IRVINE — Colin Mello and Curt Merlo scored three goals each in the Anteaters’ loss in a consolation semifinal of the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Championship Tournament Saturday.

UCI (10-20) will face Long Beach State today at 10 a.m. in the seventh-place game.

USC, which owns a 44-game winning streak, will face Cal in the championship at 3 p.m. John Mann, a Corona del Mar High product, scored two goals in the Bears’ 8-5 semifinal win over UCLA, which got two goals from Michael March, another CdM graduate.

Stanford will play UCLA in the third-place game at 1 p.m.
