IRVINE — Freshman Naomi Halman had team-highs of 16 points and seven rebounds off the bench, but the Anteaters (1-4) fell to the Cornhuskers (4-1) in a nonconference game Friday.

Kelly Cochran had 12 points and Annie Mai added 11 for the Anteaters, who shot just 41.4% from the field compared to Nebraska’s 52.7%.

UC Irvine plays host to Loyola Marymount on Dec. 1.

Championship Tournament

IRVINE — Top-seeded USC extended its winning streak to 43 games Friday with a 13-2 win over No. 8 seed UC Irvine in the first round of the MPSF Championship Tournament at UC Irvine.

Freshman Kyle Baxter scored both of the goals for the Anteaters (10-19), who trailed 7-1 at halftime. The Trojans, meanwhile, had 10 different people score, led by Thomas Hale with three and Gabor Sarusi with two.

UCI junior Matt Garcia had 10 saves.

UC Irvine plays a consolation semifinal against UC Santa Barbara today at 10 a.m.

In other action, No. 2 seed California topped No. 7 seed Long Beach State, 17-6. No. 3 seed UCLA got by No. 6 Pacific, 17-1, and No. 4 Stanford outlasted No. 5 UCSB, 12-9.

Long Beach State plays Pacific today at 11:30 a.m. in the other consolation semifinal

The action is followed by the championship semifinals of USC versus Stanford at 1 p.m. and then UCLA takes on Cal at 2:30 p.m.
