    A support group for people struggling with issues of loneliness, relationship, grief and health problems meets from 1 to 3 p.m. the second and fourth Tuesday of every month.

    WIDOWS AND WIDOWERS

    This support group meets from 1 to 3 p.m. every Wednesday.

    DIABETES DISCUSSION

    A discussion group that provides support for diabetics and their caregivers meets at 10 a.m. every Friday. The group focuses on dietary concerns as well as complications such as neuropathy, eye problems and emotional barriers.

    BLOOD PRESSURE CLINIC

    A blood pressure clinic is held from 9 to 11 a.m. every Tuesday. No appointment is necessary.

    FITNESS CLASS

    A functional senior fitness class, designed to enhance strength, flexibility and posture, is from 1 to 2 p.m. every Wednesday.

    AEROBICS

    Low-impact aerobics, designed to fit the personal health and fitness needs of older adults, is from 1 to 2 p.m. every Monday and Friday.

    TELEPHONE REASSURANCE

    Telephone reassurance is available for seniors with a limited local support system that would benefit from daily telephone contact.

    TRANSPORTATION

    BLOOD PRESSURE SCREENINGS

    Blood pressure screenings are conducted from 9 to 11 a.m. the first and third Tuesday of each month in room 3.

    VISION CARE

    Visual aid screenings with a Braille Institute representative are offered for people with limited vision. Call to make an appointment.

    HEALTHCARE DIRECTIVES

    Advance healthcare directives are available for $3 each. Call to make an appointment.

    PREVENTIVE HEALTHCARE

    Preventive healthcare services are offered by a nurse from the Orange County Health Department on the fourth Wednesday of each month. Call to make an appointment.

    INSURANCE QUESTIONS

    The Health Insurance Counseling and Advocacy Program offers a counselor to assist with questions about Medicare, HMOs and supplemental and long-term care insurance. Call to make an appointment.

    AARP-MATURE DRIVING CLASS

    AARP is offering this refresher course on rules of the road in two four-hour sessions. Participants will learn about new traffic laws and upon completion of the course will receive certificates for insurance discounts The fee is $10; make checks payable to AARP.

    CHAIR EXERCISE

    Chair exercise is offered Mondays from noon to 2 p.m. This class is designed to increase muscular strength and improve posture and mobility.

    COMPUTER CLASSES

    Weekly computer classes include computer basics, Internet, Windows, Print Shop, computer friends and more.

    SCRABBLE

    All skill levels are welcome to play Scrabble on Wednesdays from 1 to 3 p.m. Game boards, tiles and an official Scrabble dictionary are provided.

    FRENCH LESSONS

    Learn to read and speak French in this free class offered on Fridays from 10 a.m. to noon.

    HULA DANCING

    Practice graceful dance movements using the hips and feet. Offered Mondays from 9 to 10 a.m.

    T’AI CHI

    A t’ai chi class is offered every Friday from 10 to 11 a.m. This free class offers better balance and improved flexibility of joints and muscles.

    PARTY BRIDGE

    You don’t need a partner to participate in this bridge game on Tuesday mornings from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Please arrive early, as space is limited. The cost is $1.

    CAREGIVERS SUPPORT

  • A support group for caregivers, sponsored by the Alzheimer’s Assn. Orange County Chapter, meets from 1 to 3 p.m. every first and third Thursday of the month at Harbor Trinity Church, 1230 Baker St., Costa Mesa. Call: (714) 593-9630.
