BREAKING NEWS:

A Costa Mesa man was released from the hospital Tuesday night after he was stabbed in the chest and robbed of hundreds of dollars, Costa Mesa Police officials said Wednesday.

After almost making it home from a bar, a 23-year-old man and his 21-year-old brother were approached by a group of men outside their apartment in the 800 block of West 19th Street, Sgt. Marty Carver said. One of the group demanded the 23-year-old man hand over money, and when he refused, the man stabbed him in the upper chest, Carver said.

The suspect made off with a “couple hundred dollars” and the 23-year-old man was taken to Hoag Memorial Hospital Presbyterian in Newport Beach where his stab wound was stitched up and he was later released, Carver said. The man’s brother was not injured.
