The man authorities suspect is the cue-card bandit was identified Thursday as Fred Antonio Alfaro, 40, of Garden Grove.
Alfaro is suspected of hitting 14 banks in Orange County since September, including ones in Costa Mesa and Corona del Mar, police said. He was arrested Wednesday by Orange County Sheriff’s deputies after authorities said he robbed two South County banks. He was due to report to court Thursday, where he would most likely be charged with Wednesday’s robberies, FBI spokeswoman Laura Eimiller said.
The cue-card bandit left a Corona del Mar bank after the teller told him there was no cash, police said. In the Sept. 1 Costa Mesa robbery, he got away with an undisclosed amount of cash, authorities said.
