Black Wolves post 6-1 win

Chris Garcia broke open a tight game with four goals in the second half Saturday to lead the Black Wolves to a 6-1 victory over the Empire Strikes Back in an AYSO Region 55 boys’ Under-8 division match.

The Black Wolves never trailed in the game. Goals by Jordan Sohoni and Mason Corkett helped the team to a 2-1 halftime advantage.

Alessandro Juliano’s passing led to assists on Garcia’s scoring in the second half. The defense of Coby Shuman, Cole Peterson and Matthew Karnowski helped limit the Empire Strikes Back to a single goal.

In girls’ AYSO action:

Region 55 Under-12 Division

Blew By U 3, Splat 3

Blew By U scored the first and last goals of the match to earn a tie against the Splat.

Blew By U dominated the first quarter of play and took a 1-0 lead when Amanda Garske netted her first goal of the season off a corner kick from Amira Shewk. Kerry McDonald scored off a play set up by Brianna Kutinsky and Jaclyn Escobar at the outset of the second quarter to up the score to 2-0. The Splat scored just before the half to make it 2-1 at the break.

The Splat dominated play in the third quarter when they posted two more goals to take a 3-2 lead into the final quarter. Then, Garske scored on a penalty kick to tie the score.

Simone Corkett turned away a last scoring threat by the Splat.

NHB 0, Orange Junior Soccer Club 0

North Huntington Beach goalie Penny Roman recorded seven saves to preserve a tie against Orange Junior Soccer Club Premier.
