NEWPORT-MESA UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT PREVIEW
Here are some items the board will consider tonight:
REVIEW OF BOARD POLICY
Trustee Tom Eganhas asked for a review of the school board’s policy regarding the preparation of agendas. One section of the rules declares that to put an action item on the agenda, at least three trustees must agree to it. Egan, who claims that the rule inhibits the power of individual trustees, has requested that the board give it another look.
WHAT TO EXPECT
The trustees will only be discussing the item, with no vote scheduled to take place. The benefit of the three-board-member rule, according to longtime member Martha Fluor, was to prevent trustees from pushing the same item repeatedly.
NEW STAFF APPOINTMENTS
The district will recognize three new assistant principals at tonight’s meeting: Phil D’Agostino (Estancia High School), Jennifer Chamberlain (Newport Harbor) and Spring Hunsinger (TeWinkle Middle School).
