Breaking News:

A 25-year-old Newport Beach man died when he was hit by truck in Santa Ana Heights early this morning, police said.

Zaven Lustaryan, 54, was driving a Ford F-350 truck on Birch Street when police believe the Newport Beach man walked out in front of the truck at 4 a.m.

Robert Jay Shenk died at the scene of his injuries, Newport Beach Police Sgt. Bill Hartford said.

Lustaryan, of Tujunga, Calif., was questioned and released.

Alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the accident and the driver was not cited, Hartford said.
