SOUNDING OFF: Logic of opposition to day labor centers

Some of your letter writers don’t seem to comprehend the issues regarding illegal immigration or just choose to ignore reality.

No patriot opposing the Day Labor Center has “asserted” or even implied that Laguna’s center is “single handedly responsible for the illegal immigration problems.” If that assertion isn’t a blatant lie, then it’s a total lack of comprehension and logical thought process.

Every patriot opposing illegal immigration has merely stated that most day labor centers, including Laguna’s, are magnets attracting illegals. That is a simple fact confirmed by some of the illegals’ own admissions.

There are multiple problems associated with the massive amount of illegal immigration, but the main one is the dereliction of duty by so many of our politicians who have, and are, failing to secure our borders and to enforce our long-standing laws regarding illegal immigration — including prohibiting the hiring of illegals.

It seems many people still cannot comprehend the difference between legal immigration and illegal immigration.

Legal immigrants have been, and still are, an asset to our country. Illegal immigrants are people who break our laws to start with by entering and have no reservations about breaking our laws — from tax evasion, to driving without insurance or licenses, etc.

They have introduced diseases into this country we thought were eliminated long ago. Many come to work hard (just like the legals do), but many just come to take advantage of all the free social services. Others come to commit crimes, knowing that the penalties, if even caught, are mild. Even our prisons are much nicer than the conditions some of them had in their native lands.

For those of you trying to justify illegal entry because legal entry is difficult and may take a long time, use your time and energy to push for better immigration laws.

And for those of you who think illegal immigrants are just a bunch of hardworking folks, you need to wake up. Though many are nice folks, come to some of the rallies or see the videos of the rallies and see what their leaders — professional communist agitators — and multitudes of illegals really want.

They want us out of what they consider their country. And they want us out by any means, including violence and politics. Come to a couple of events and hear the most obscene language and threats you will ever hear.

Yes, we in Laguna live sheltered lives, well-protected by an outstanding police force. But that is a temporary situation, and we, too, will be overwhelmed — and life as you know it now will be destroyed for your children — if the massive invasion is allowed to continue.

Laguna Beach cannot do much to stop the massive illegal invasion, but at least we should do a little by not encouraging illegals and by each of us refusing to hire illegals just to save a few dollars; and we should demand that any contractor we hire uses legal American citizens on the job.

Support the illegals and those who hire them and lose your country, and your children will eventually live in a foreign country, right here.

By the way, I am not mean-spirited, but I can become that way in an instant with anyone who attacks my country. I repeat, I did not serve our country twice in the military to see timid politicians or bleeding hearts give it away without a fight.
