Anteaters’ Lundahl signs deal

Chad Lundahl, a junior infielder for the UC Irvine baseball team last season, has signed as a free agent with the Atlanta Braves and is playing with the Rookie League Gulf Coast Braves.
Lundahl, who hit .271 with 10 doubles, 18 RBIs and two stolen bases as a shortstop and third baseman for the Anteaters last season, made his professional debut Friday.
He entered his first professional game as a late-inning defensive replacement and did not get an at-bat.
Lundahl started Monday’s game at shortstop and went 0 for 4 with two strikeouts.
In other news involving Anteater baseball players, Bryan Petersen, who will be a junior next season, was named Co-Player of the Year in the Alaska summer league.
Petersen, competing for the Anchorage Bucs, hit .365 in 137 at-bats spanning 35 games. He had 10 doubles, four triples and 24 RBIs and was successful on 10 of 13 stolen-base attempts.
Petersen hit .225 in 42 games (15 starts) for the Anteaters last season. He had seven RBIs and three steals.
