Bears come on strong late, down Diablos

The Bears came up with four goals on offense in the final period of play while their defense shut down the Diablos, and the result was an 8-3 victory in a Norris Division match at Coast 2 Coast Inline Hockey Center in Huntington Beach.

Austin Koss powered the Bears with a match-best six goals, including the final goal of the match. Justin Campbell scored the other two goals, both of which came after Koss had scored his team’s first five goals.

Tyler Gealy had two assists and Campbell and Dean Kopchok each had one assist.

Evan Gray had 17 saves.

Tyler Crimmins, Josh Valadez and Corey Childers each scored once for the Diablos. Corey Childers and Jessica Childers each had an assist and Blake Walker came up with 20 saves.

In other Norris Division matches:

Grommets 5, Kings 2

The Grommets took a 3-0 lead after one period of play, and that margin was the difference in their win over the Kings.

Jake Rennison scored the first two goals for the Grommets and also had a pair of assists. Nicole Langley also scored twice, Nick Callanan scored once and Danielle Dapello had an assist.

Emmett Jaeger finished with 19 saves.

Mark Clifford scored both goals for the Kings, Dylan Palmer had an assist and Ethan Higbee finished with 25 saves.

Raptors 5, Breakers 4

Matthew Chism and Andrew Schenker each scored two goals as the Raptors slipped past the Breakers.

Hector Tepayotl had a goal and assist and Nick Hoskins finished with 17 saves.

Nolan Strout scored twice, Jonathan Cooper had a goal and assist, Trevor Sabers scored once, Alexander Taros had an assist and Jake Grothjan recorded 31 saves for the Breakers.
