FIREFIGHTERS PAY INCREASE
The council will hear from the Costa Mesa Firefighters Assn. about a pay increase in their contract, which began July 2004. The fiscal impact to the city’s budget will be $497,462.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Since the salary increase was part of their contract agreed to in 2004, the council is expected to approve the increase.
HOME CONSTRUCTION
The council will hold a public hearing on the construction of four two-story homes by a resident. During the construction, the developer changed the height of the roof of two of the homes. At the June 26 Planning Commission meeting, the resident requested an approval of a variance to legalize the height, which is against the city’s code. The commission denied his request.
WHAT TO EXPECT
The council could go any of several directions as city staff members have suggested the council uphold the commissions’ decision, reverse it or modify its decision.
