All-Star squad picked for tourney

Fourteen Majors Division players were selected by their division managers and peers to represent Laguna Beach Little League on its 2006 Majors Division All-Star team.

The squad, which had its first practice last Saturday following Fiesta Day festivities, begins District 55 All-Star Tournament competition on July 1.

The double-elimination tournament runs through July 15, with the winner advancing to the Section 5 tournament, which will be held July 20 through 25.

The Section 5 winner advances to the Division 3 tournament, which will be played July 27 through Aug. 2. The winner there will go on to the Western Region tournament in San Bernardino. The winner of the Western Region tournament, which runs Aug. 4 through 13, will punch a ticket to Williamsport, Pa., site of the Little League World Series.

The Little League World Series runs Aug. 18 through 27.
