Milder heads list for Sage

The Sage Hill School baseball team had four players selected to All-Academy League teams and one made honorable mention.
Leading the way was senior shortstop Zach Milder, who was Sage Hill’s only first-team selection. Seniors Bryan Kornsweit and Zach Shockley and sophomore Tom Multari were second-team picks and Doug McAfee made honorable mention.
Milder batted .369 with 13 runs and nine stolen bases this season. In a key 8-7 win over Brethren Christian, the 145-pound senior three for four and scored twice on wild pitches, including the tying run in the bottom of the sixth inning.
The scrappy shortstop was also a strong fielder and team leader for the Lightning under Coach Bert Emerson.
Milder, who also was an All-Academy League selection in soccer, was a Daily Pilot Dream Team selection for the second straight season.
Kornswiet batted .367 with 10 RBIs for the Lightning. Multari hit .375 in 32 at-bats for Sage Hill, which finished the season 6-15 overall, 5-10 in the tough Academy League.
Oxford Academy, which went 15-0 in the Academy League, had a league-high five first-team picks, including Most Valuable Player Billy Ott.
