CDM SPONSORS NEEDED

Sponsors are still being sought for the sixth annual Corona del Mar High Whiffleball Tournament that will culminate the week of June 5-9.

The event, a fundraiser for the school’s wrestling program, is seeking sponsors to donate $1,000, $500, $250, $100, or any amount.

Some 60 teams, divided into four pools, will be pared to the “Sweet 16” for the final week of competition.

CDM ALUMNI TOURNEY

The 18th annual Corona del Mar High alumni basketball tournament is scheduled July 29 at the school’s two gyms.

All Corona del Mar High graduates are eligible to play in the event, which features pool play in the morning and a single-elimination tournament in the afternoon.

The event begins at 8 a.m. and concludes around 5 p.m.

TENNIS TOURNEY ON TAP

The Balboa Bay Club Racquet Club will play host to the first tournament of the summer conducted by the Intercollegiate Tennis Assn., July 8-10.

The first of four West Coast events presented by the ITA and the United States Tennis Assn., it will feature college men and women, as well as high school players.

Players representing Stanford, USC, UCLA are expected to compete, as are athletes from throughout the nation.

Each participant is guaranteed at least two matches.

Entry fee is $50, which includes singles and doubles.

BREAKERS TICKETS

Tickets are on sale for the 2006 Newport Beach Breakers season. Seven home matches are scheduled for the Breakers at Palisades Tennis Club.

Individual tickets range from $15 to $85. Season tickets are available, starting at $150, and include a “Meet the Team” pass and parking passes.
