Bomb Squad blasts off with four wins

The Bomb Squad, a 10-and-Under squad out of South Huntington Beach Girls Fastpitch Softball, won four games to win its division at the sixth annual Rec Ball Sunday Tournament in Garden Grove.

In an exciting championship game, the Bomb Squad fell behind, 1-0, in the top of the fourth inning. They rallied back in the bottom of the inning when Alex Vann drew a walk and Emma Fitzsimmons was hit by a pitch, setting the stage for a triple by Emily Brucelas that produced two runs and a 2-1 lead.

The Bomb Squad held on for the victory to claim the title.

The Bomb Squad began the tournament with a 5-0 shutout of the Fire Bandits of Garden Grove. They followed that win with a 4-1 win over the Stealerz, also of Garden Grove. The two victories in pool play advanced the Bomb Squad to the semifinal round.
