LET’S PLAY 100

The Estancia High baseball program is hosting its annual 100 Inning Game on March 25 starting at 9 a.m. The game will pit Estancia alumni, parents and family members against this season’s varsity baseball team in a unique fundraiser.

Coach C.K. Green will lead the Eagles in the marathon game, which will be played five innings at a time until it reaches 100. Participants may show up anytime between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.

A hamburger lunch sponsored by Outback Steakhouse will take place from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Tickets for the lunch are $5.

TUTER INDUCTED

UC Irvine women’s basketball coach Molly Tuter will be inducted into the inaugural Alaska High School Hall of Fame on Sunday in Anchorage, Alaska.

Tuter, who completed her first full season as the Anteaters’ coach, led Soldotna High to the 1993 state 4-A championship and was twice named the Gatorade State High School Basketball Player of the Year. She was also named All-Region III in girls’ volleyball and qualified for the state track meet in the 400 meters and the 800 relay in 1993.

Tuter, who played for the WNBA’s Phoenix Mercury before becoming an assistant coach at UCLA, was rated No. 16 in Sports Illustrated’s 50 Greatest 20th Century Alaskan Sports Figures in 1999.

At Arizona State, Tuter scored 1,374 points ? third on the school’s all-time list. She’s also in the top three in career steals (221) and three-pointers (116).

A two-time All-Pac-10 honorable mention selection for Arizona State, Tuter led UC Irvine to the Big West Tournament this past season.
