Jessica Mazura gets her dream school, signing with Cal. Sea Kings girls soccer teammate Taylor Fallon casts lot with Indiana. As situations go, Jessica Mazura couldn’t have found a more ideal one.

The Corona del Mar High soccer player signed a national letter of intent with Cal on Wednesday, reuniting her with older sister Alivia Mazura -- who’ll be a senior captain for the Golden Bears next season. She will also join two of her club soccer teammates, including best friend Lisa Kevorkian.

“It’s awesome,†Mazura said. “It can’t get any more perfect with my sister and Lisa there.â€

In addition, Taylor Fallon -- Mazura’s teammate at Corona del Mar -- signed with Indiana University.

Mazura is a four-year starter for the Sea Kings and one of the team’s four captains.

The Golden Bears went 16-4-2 last season and advanced to the third round of the NCAA playoffs before losing to Florida, 2-1.

Cal’s success was one factor in Mazura’s decision to sign there, instead of USC, Texas or UC Santa Barbara. But the midfielder said Berkeley became her top choice not long after her sister signed there.

“I didn’t really like Cal at first,†Mazura said. “Then I went up and visited [Alivia Mazura] and I just fell in love with the people. I just had my heart set on it.â€

Two of Mazura’s teammates on the Slammers FC club program also signed with the Golden Bears. Kevorkian scored 41 goals as a junior at Monrovia High, and Brianna Bak is a defender from Chadwick School in Palos Verdes Peninsula.

Mazura credited Slammers Coach Walid Khoury with improving her game to its current level.

Fallon, who also plays for Slammers FC, will join a Hoosiers team that went 7-10-2 last season and lost in the first round of the Big Ten Tournament.

“Taylor came into the recruiting process late but fell in love with IU on her visit,†Indiana Coach Mick Lyon said in a press release. “Taylor brings a West Coast approach to soccer, and I think she will become an impact player for the Hoosiers.â€
