Burglar knocks out teen, robs Costa Mesa home
A Costa Mesa teenager was hit over the head and robbed in her own home Wednesday afternoon in the 400 block of Merrimac Way, police said.
The 15-year-old was home alone, talking on the phone to her boyfriend when someone knocked on the front door. She opened the door and didn’t see anyone there; before she could close the door and lock it, someone walked through the door, police said.
The unseen intruder hit her on the back of the head with a unknown object and knocked her unconscious. The girl’s boyfriend found her on the floor 20 minutes later.
The girl was taken to the hospital and treated for a concussion and minor injuries. The intruder stole jewelry and an unknown amount of money, police said.
