Blues, jazz are on tap
12th annual Blues and Jazz Festival takes place next Saturday at Artists’ Theater.Latin jazz saxophonist Scott Martin will headline the 12th annual Blues and Jazz Festival, to be held at 7:30 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 11, at the Artists’ Theater, 625 Park Ave.
Martin has performed all over the world with many artists but is best known for his 13-year tenure with the Pancho Sanchez Latin Jazz Band. With Sanchez, he won a Grammy Award for best Latin jazz performance.
Martin has played with a roster of top performers including Celia Cruz, Tito Puente, Jazz on the Latin Side All Stars, Mango Santamaria, Ray Charles, Barry Manilow and Dianne Reeves.
This year’s concert will feature hot guitar jams, wall-to-wall Latin percussion, and a featured saxophone soloist -- Scott’s brother, Stan -- on trumpet. Also appearing will be Jimmy Haslip on bass, Chris Barron on piano, John Heussenstamm on guitar, Ramon Banda on drums and Victor Bias on percussion.
All seats are reserved. Premium seating, $30; adults, $20, and students, $10.
