Wanted: Ideas for new hall
Thank you to the Newport Beach City Council for choosing me to act as chairman of the city hall site selection committee. This is the newly appointed residents committee, which is charged with analyzing alternative locations for a new city hall, that the City Council has determined is necessary to house the city’s employees and efficiently conduct the city’s business.
There has been much discussion in the Daily Pilot over the last couple of years about the appropriate location of the new city hall. One obvious choice is the current location on Newport Boulevard. However, the City Council has asked that our committee determine if there are other feasible sites in Newport Beach for a city hall. It is the City Council’s goal to make sure that all alternatives are considered and analyzed so the council can select the best feasible site.
So to the residents of Newport Beach, here is your chance to make a difference in your hometown. If you have an idea about a specific property that you believe would be a feasible location for a new city hall, please e-mail your idea to City Manager Homer Bludau at [email protected] or send him a fax at (949) 644-3020.
The committee has a tight time deadline to report back to the City Council, so please let us know your suggestions as soon as possible. Thank you.
