Thunder Blades shut down Panthers

Gruwell scores three goals in 7-0 Smythe victory.Joshua Gruwell scored three goals and Joshua Gane turned away 26 shot attempts to pace the Thunder Blades in their 7-0 shutout of the Panthers at Coast 2 Coast Inline Hockey Center in Huntington Beach.

Gruwell scored three consecutive goals after Evan Hess had opened the scoring in the Smythe Division match.

Adam Hess and William Engelke also scored. Evan Hess also collected a pair of assists, and Brandon Albertson and Steven Landis had one assist apiece.

In other Smythe Division action:

Blue Diamonds 4, Kings 3

Alan Plummer posted two goals in the final period, when the Blue Diamonds outscored the Kings, 2-1, to win a close match.

Savannah Patton and Lukas Welinder also scored, and Welinder and Ben Sumner had assists.

Craig Wellander finished with 26 saves.

Jake Grothjan scored the first goal, and Travis Hunter added the final two for the Kings. Brett Vanderham had 27 saves.

Sea Monkeys 3, Renegades 2

Cody Sizemore scored his second goal of the match in the third period as the Sea Monkeys escaped the Renegades.

Kobi Pekich assisted Sizemore’s game-deciding goal, and Slater Hoar also scored.

Dacha Dongird and Christopher Pichedwatana both scored; Carson Gibbs, Thomas Souza and Dallas Borski added assists; and Jayce Borski had 19 saves for the Renegades.

Mustangs 6, Skulls 4

Aron Wong netted four goals to lead the Mustangs past the Skulls.

Niley Smith Cohn and Vincent Nutt also scored, Smith Cohn and Michael Kramer each had an assist and Jessica Baltazar had 27 saves.

Zack McDaniel, Paige Gast and Kevin Lawrence scored for the Skulls, and Jason Ferrall had 28 saves.

In Adams Division action:

Kings 6, Rangers 0

Ismael Ralsten needed just six saves to preserve a shutout as the Kings rolled past the Rangers.

Matthew Legrand led the scoring with four goals, and Trevor Staffieri scored twice. Justin Ferrall had an assist.

Ducks 3, Nightmares 1

Anthony Martinez scored the first three goals of the match to lead the Ducks.

Braeden Stack scored off an assist from Joshua Wagoner for the Nightmares.

Tanner Osterkamp had 19 saves for the Ducks, and Ali Wester had six for the Nightmares.

Wing Nuts 2, Bulldogs 0

The Wing Nuts defense got the shutout behind nine saves from Peter Skowron and the win from goals by Dillon Makoff and John Elliot.

Trent Sievers had 26 saves for the Bulldogs.
